Hello i am having difficulties opening identity safe on either the program or the toolbar, which is unfortunate when you trust norton with alot of important information on there. Please help, anything will be appreciated
Hi Levon-Nunweiler
Welcome to the Norton community forum
1.Make sure your Identity safe is 'ON' in the Main UI
2.In the toolbar make sure the Norton Add-Ons are enabled
Please let me know your OS with the Service pack and the Norton full product version.
Regards
kishore

Can you please elaborate on the issue you face.
1. Do you get any error message when you try to open Identity safe?
2. Does the product or the browser hang/crash when you try opening?
3. Can you login to the identity safe profile? or is the issue found after loggin in to identity safe
4. Can you open other settings windows in the product or identity safe settings in the only problematic area?
Hello, yes i have checked those things and they are both in place. I have windows 7 professional and norton internet security 2011. this recently just started happening. i also just started noticing it after i downloaded and installed ad-aware by lavasoft which could be the problem i am working on removing that as a program to see if thats it. but in the mean time.....
No i cannot open identity safe at all, cannot even get to the login page on my profile in the toolbar or on the program. nothing pops up at all. firefox doesnt crash or freeze or lock or anything, the tab for identity safe just doesnt respond at all.
and yes it seems that identity safe the cards option on the program are the only promlem areas. all other tabs on the program are running and opening fine
does the Norton Toolbar/Extension is enabled in Firefox?
let us know the version you're running (get it from Norton Internet security -> Support -> about) ex: 18.6.0.29
I am actually having difficulties performing a full system scan. i can perform and am peforming a quick scan but not a full system scan
yes im running 18.6.0.29
need a reply please, i recently, in an attempt to remove adaware which i now removed, deleted a dll. that i was told was for ad aware. i think the best thing would be to reinstall norton completely where is the program for that?
Hi Levon-Nunweiler:
This problem could be related to the patch delivered via LiveUpdate yesterday to make the updated Norton Toolbar v. 2011.7.1.3 and Symantec IPS v. 3.1 Firefox add-ons compatible with Firefox 6.0 (see Tim Lopez's announcement here). Users have posted screen shots in sellingfor's post About Firefox 6.0 Compatibility Patch showing what your NIS LiveUpdate history and Firefox Add-on Manager should look like if the patch was correctly installed.
If you'd like to try re-installing NIS, you can download a fresh copy of NIS 2011 v. 18.6.0.29 here. It might be advisable to to uninstall NIS 2011 using the the Norton Removal Tool (available here) to remove all traces of your current installation before re-installing, but keep in mind that the Norton Removal Tool will remove all Norton products from your PC (e.g., NIS, Norton Utilities, etc.) if you use this utility. Be sure to run a manual LiveUpdate after reinstalling NIS 2011 to ensure that the Firefox compatibility patch is delivered before testing your Identity Safe features.

Thanks for the correction. I don't use the Identity Safe feature myself and I forgot that Norton Removal Tool would clean out the saved passwords and other protected data . I haven't used the Norton Removal Tool in a while and can't recall if the wizard prompts you to backup your Identity Safe data during the uninstall.
Levon-Nunweiler, if you're going to use the Norton Removal Tool you can search for the phrase "backup Identity Safe data" in NIS Help to learn how to backup and restore your passwords, etc..

A clarification on this. The Norton Removal tool is supposed to leave Identity Safe intact. However, when it comes to something as important as this it is always a good idea to back it up manually to be on the safe side.
In fact we recommend backing up ID safe periodically anyway, such as when you add new logins.
Levon-Nunweiler, please clarify something so I can be sure. If you go to the main NIS user interface window, then click on Settings, then Web Settings. In the Identity Safe section please click on Log in to Identity Safe and let us know if you are able to log in.
If you cannot log into ID safe you won't be able to back up ID safe in the conventional way so in this case please let us know before continuing.
Best wishes.
