Hi Bill,
I would first recommend contacting our Customer Support team through the product's Help & Support link. Or you can visit the below site to contact our free Customer Support:
http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/selectproduct_ts.jsp
If you have already done this and they could not resolve your issue, please let us know. If this is the case, please provide as many details as possible. Thanks!
Hi,
I have the same problem, cannot open the Norton main window.
I have downloaded the removal tool and uninstalled it and tried with the upgrade version - no joy.
and again download the trial version but still no joy.
I have downloaded the Chat software but this hngs with error when I attempt to Chat.
Also the gadgets on the desktop have dissappeared, if I try to open some of the other programs like the "Welcome centre" I get the busy circle then nothing!
What can I try next?
Mart
I to have the same problem as mention above.
As background I installed Norton 360 V2 and all worked fine until I discovered the interaction between it and PowerDesk V7 caused the right click on file and folder to stop Windows Explorer working (reported in another thread). Thank fully someone pointed out that there was a fix for PowerDesk V7 that resolved this issue.
Then about a day later Norton 360 V7 will not open from either the program icons or the task bar icons, just a the busy circle and then nothing.
I have to say for a security application I am not impressed.
Well after much searching of help files and this community I solved the problem by uninstalling N360 from the control panel, using the Norton Removal Tool, downloading the N360 file and accepting every recommended action during download and reinstallation, and then the program started up and is working pretty good so far. The only negative is that you will lose any remaining days on your subscription.
Hope this helps someone, but this install/uninstall/reinstall while not getting any "real people" support is taking 1/2 a days' labor just to upgrade a product. That doesn't impress me either. I am certainly hesitant to recommend Norton to my clients (I am an accountant).
Thanks,
Bill

See what Norton Staff have to say about that -- it should not happen or if it does can be put right if your original subscription is still in force.
If you contact our customer support, they can retrieve those days of subscription for you. Just explain the situation and they’ll be happy to help. Thanks!
