Cannot turn on Smart Firewall

I was notified my computer was at risk.  I ran the AutoFix tool.  Came up with Error 3042,1-Definitions Error.  Says it has detected a problem with my definitions updates.  It tells me to download and run Intelligent Updater which I did.  It takes me to the page to download it.  I downloaded and ran this ( 20110202-038-v5i64.exe)   It asks me if I want to deploy all the updates from this Intelligent Updater.  I say yes, then within 1 sec. a box pops up and says this:

Intelligent Updater session complete.

All updates failed to install on the machine.

I have tried several times to download this with no solution.  I never had a problem with my software until today.  Any help or solutions would be greatly apprecitated.

HI Rica

Welcome to the Norton Community Forums

What is your Operating System - is it a 64 bit OS? What is your Norton Product and Version Number? Have you tried just running liveupdate?

Yes.  Windows 7 64-bit and Norton Internet Secruity 2011. I've run LiveUpdate and it didn't fix it.

HI Rica.

The next obvious step is to try an uninstall/reinstall. Make sure that before you uninstall you have a note of your subscription key and back up your identity safe information if you use identity safe - then you can restore it once you have reinstalled.

You can get the installation file from here

After reinstalling you should run liveupdate repeatedly until there are no more updates. Some updates may require you to reboot your system.
