Hi guys.
Thanks for all the swift responses.
Here's the gig.
I am not very computer savvy, and I accidently deleted an important file which meant my laptop was out of service, putting it mildly
In the end it had to be set back to Factory Settings, which included a Norton 60 day trial.
As already have protection (Kaspersky) I was in the process of downloading that again, along with all the other usual stuff I had on my laptop.
This is when the problems started.
Firstly I couldn't imput my Activation code, then when Kaspersky was running, I was unable to access the internet.
Basically I have to disable Kaspersky just to browse the net.
As a side note, when I downloaded iTunes, that wouldn't connect to the internet either.
I got in touch with Kaspersky and after i downloaded some stuff they sent me they said:
Remnants of Norton have been detected on your machine, these may cause conflict upon installation of your Kaspersky product.
Please use the Norton Uninstall Tool
Problem is, everytime I clicked the link to NUT I couldn't connect, even when I disabled Kaspersky.
I can't even connect to the internet with Internet Explorer.
Whatever the problem is with my laptop, it's not letting me download Adobe Flash either, and I suspect any other programs I may want to install. (i haven't even bothered trying yet)
I had several correspondences with Kaspersky and eventually they told me to get in touch with Norton, as I think they exausted every avenue.
BTW - I was thinking, would it be possible to download NUT onto a memory stick via another computer, then run it on my computer?
I have used Superantispyware but Kaspersky told me to unintall that, and I'm now in the process of running Malwarebytes, but as I type it has shown nothing untoward.
I'm at a loss as to what the problem is.
