Can't add second user in Norton 360 Deluxe

I am running Win 11, the latest version, and have 4 seats available. I wanted to add another user to my account as it says I can add up to 4 additional. I followed the directions but could only log in with my credentials. When I tried to have him add himself as a new account, they wanted him/me to purchase another 360 account. So we did a scan, but when it was done, some of the info that showed up on the dark web was for a female with my age and related info.

I called support, and they told me two different things:

1. First that he could sign in as a new account (told him that didn't work.)

2. I could give him my credentials and then change them after he signed in, and then I could change them on everything else I used the same credentials for. This seems to be a loose security issue and not a good idea.

They also told me that they have to do it this way because they only have access to the core product and not the add on but that tells me they really should have separate emails for the core product.

Did the support person blow it?

No. They will use the 360 app as you would. LiveUpdate will run in the background or they can run it manually. They have full use of all the features of 360 and can customize it for their own use. Nothing they do will affect your installation on your computer.

They will not have access to your Account, so they cannot purchase any add ons that would be charged to you.

So will their copy be updated that way? That seems odd.

You cannot add other users to your Norton Account. Only one owner can be registered to a Norton account. What you can do is allow other users to install and use Norton using your subscription.

From your Norton 360 My Norton  interface, click on the + sign beside Protect Another Device at the top. Then send an email to the user you wish to share your subscription. That user will click on the link in the email to download and install a pre activated copy of your Norton 360.
