Can't backup folder

Greetings,

I have backup set up, but one folder isn't being backed up:

C:\Users\Shane\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\i0g1rjo3.default-release\bookmarkbackups\

This folder contains bookmarks for Firefox. Here is an example of today's bookmarks:

bookmarks-2022-07-07_301_aPt8CSVlp4yR56FNj1cKPQ==.jsonlz4

How can I find out why this folder isn't being backed up?

I have Norton 360 Premium 22.22.6.10.

Thanks,
Shane.

Firefox automatically creates bookmark backups.  You should be able to overwrite the current set of hundreds of duplicates with a previous backup.

Its worse than I thought. While the support technician had control of my computer, he exported Firefox's bookmarks and then imported them back. Now I have hundreds of duplicates.

I contacted Norton support. The person I chatted with said Norton Backup doesn't support selecting files or folders. Instead I have to create a shortcut for each folder I want to back up, and then select the shortcut.

It doesn't make any sense.

Does Norton have email support? I only see chat and phone.

Norton Support is via Chat &or Phone.  No Email support.

I see that you added both the folder and file to your DefaultSet. What happens if you add just the folder?
I can't add the file name because it changes often.

Yeah, I had initially added just the folder as my test.  Just the folder did not work.  So, for testing I added the file.  Then it worked that one time.  Yes, I understand the file name changes.

Which is why I commented "IDK if my test is reproducible."

Maybe try places.sqlite -> Permalink?

I'm not backing up the entire Firefox folder. I haven't selected the places.sqlite file because it also contains downloads, history, and other stuff.

Shane.

FWIW ~ as test: added places.sqlite file to TEST DefaultSet
IDK if my test is reproducible.

Are you backing up your entire Firefox profile?  If so, it looks like that includes places.sqlite which contains your bookmarks.  I don't know why the bookmark backups are not there, but it shouldn't matter as long as places.sqlite is saved.  If you backup the bookmark backup folder separately as bjm_ did, that might work.  I checked my Norton Backup Drive and \bookmark backups\ is indeed missing from a full profile backup.

FWIW ~ as test: created Firefox bookmarks backup file -> then added Folder and File to my DefaultSet.

Yes. I've added several folders, and this is the only one that isn't being backed up.

Could there be something in file or folder name that Norton doesn't like?

Shane.

Have you manually added that folder to your backup set?
