Issue abstract: Every time when clicking on the relevant links to download the VPN, I get the message that an error occured and I should try later. This has been going on for a day now.
Detailed description: I got the basic Norton Antivirus Plus version and got the Norton VPN Standard as an add-on in the same order. In the order confirmation e-mail, there were two links to “Get Started”, one for the Antivirus Software and one for the VPN. Clicking on either link leads to a page where I can click on “Agree and download”. While the Antivirus Software link then proceeded to a page that told me (in simple words) to watch my download folder and click on the Exe file, the VPN link opens the exact same page (for the VPN) for a millisecond (or what I assume to be the exact same page from the short look at it), before opening a page that says “Something went wrong. Try again later.”
The same happens when I click on the link in my Online Norton Account. There it says VPN is active and asks me to download it, but then I only reach the error page.
It is one day “later” now. What should I do?
Is anybody else experiencing this issue?
Product & version number: Norton VPN Standard (as an add on to Norton AntiVirus Plus which has the Version 25.8.10387)
OS details: Windows 11 Pro
What is the error message you are seeing? “Etwas ist schiefgelaufen. Versuchen Sie es spaeter noch einmal” = Something went wrong. Try again later.
Note: Please do not post Personally Identifiable Information like email address, personal phone number, physical home address, product key etc.
I’m not aware what the issue is nor what the solution is.
Are you allowing all Norton pages content?
Norton Community does not have access to your Norton account, subscription/s nor payment profile.
Yes, thank you. I am aware, that the Community does not have access to my personal information. If it was a common problem, they wouldn’t need that
So, I might try to disable all Norton Services on the laptop before trying to download it the next time, and then enable all Norton Services again. I’m sceptical about whether the Norton AntiVirus software really would prevent me from downloading the Norton VPN, but I might give it a try before contacting the dreaded customer service
After the suggested ideas did not work for me (downloading the abovementioned exe, for example, lead to a page asking me to uninstall Norton Anivirus, which did not make sense to me), I contacted the Chat support, and the assistant was able to download the VPN via some steps in the Microsoft store. Thank you for everyone for their support!
The latest version of the standalone Norton Secure VPN will not install if you have Norton 360 installed. That may be what you ran up against if you installed the antivirus software first.
If you did purchase both, you should request a refund from Norton Support for the antivirus product you purchased as you seem happy with the VPN product. The standalone VPN does provide some antimalware and safe web features.
