I can't download any Windows 8 apps... I get a message that says: installation failed, windows firewall is not enabled(something like that). When I disable Norton, I can't enable windows firewall....they are both listed but I can't choose "windows firewall".
Hi dsuew
Is your operating system windows 8? Apps are not like programmes in regard to their compatibility with various versions of windows. So for windows 8 apps you need to download them to a windows 8 machine. Regarding the firewall, only one firewall should on and the recommended fire wall is Norton.

Yes, I have windows 8. I understand that I should be using Norton firewall....but to download even Norton's windows 8 app , it tells me I can't because Windows firewall is not enabled. I can't enable Win firewall temporarily to download apps. I'm trying to figure out who's problem it is...Windows or Norton's??

Hi,
The two firewalls conflict. When your Norton program was installed and activated it should have disabled the windows filewall. If this hasn't happened it might be worth running the Norton Remova and Reinstall Tool
so that you get a clean copy of the program on your system. Be sure to run live update to bring it up to the minute
As always, if you are using the identity safe be sure to do and export of the data, just in case
Keep us posted
Hi dsuew
I have vista and NIS and can have both firewalls off or on or one of them off or on, I know you have Windows 8 but I would like to make a few suggestions, you can disable the Norton firewall permanently on the drop down menu on the user interface that opens when the firewall is disabled from the taskbar icon then restart the machine then try turning on the windows firewall, you might like to try doing the above with out restarting the computer or doing both the above from the desktop icon or from the start button and the programme menu. Please disconnect from the internet when carrying out these firewall tasks. Whether it will work or not, I have no idea but I like to try all the options possible before going to an internet café to down load the apps, if indeed that is a viable option.
