Under Mac OS 10.9.5, I tried to install Norton Security. The installer tells me "An incomplete installation of Symantec software has been been detected on this computer. Please run Norton Cleanup and try agains later." I can't find anything called Norton Cleanup. I did run whatever Norton provided (Norton Uninstall?--whatever it was, I can't find it now) to remove and Norton Confidential, Norton Firewall, Norton Antivirus, and one other Norton item whose name I can't remember. As far as I can tell, I have no Symantec tools left installed. Is this "Norton Cleanup" applicable to my Mac, and if so, where do I find it? What do I need to do to get the installation of Norton Security to proceed?
Since I couldn't get Norton Security to install, I tried to reinstall the Norton Internet Security that I got from Xfinity, but I get a similar message: Norton Internet Security cannot be installed on this disk because an incomplete installation of Symantec software has been detected. Please run the Symantec Uninstaller application to remove the existing software." I can't find Symantec Uninstaller, either. So what can I do to get one or other of these products installed and working?
