Can't login to certain Websites

When I try to log in to certain Websites such as  paypal, I get a message suggesting that I am using an outdated browser (IE6) and I am not permitted to login. I am using IE8 (which I'd prefer to stay with). Paypal suggests I allow more cookies, so, just for a test, I move the bar to accept all cookies, but my login still fails.

I've also noticed that, although I am logged in to identity safe, Norton 360 won't allow me to get in to manage identity protection.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Not sure if the problem  is with my Norton 360 (which I changed to the newest version two months ago and click the update button at least weekly) or with some settings on my computer.  Any ideas?

When I reboot the computer and it runs some type of automatic disc scan, things work better...something about a corrupt disc. Is this something that one of the Norton remote services (the ones you pay for) could fix?

Thanks!

Hello Patrick55,

I'm sorry to hear of your problem.

Based upon your description, my initial thought is that this is unrelated to Norton, but the symptoms are suspicious.

Could you restart your computer and capture a screen shot of the disc scan that runs?  This will help in determining where the problem is.  Instructions for uploading a screenshot can be found here.

Also, try to login to PayPal and copy the URL from the address bar.  Send that to me via private message.  I'd like to be sure you're not being redirected to a phishing site.

Thanks!
