On the main Norton 360 UI, first time you click on 'Settings' in the top right it will open. After you close the Settings window, you can't reopen it again without rebooting. I'm not entirely sure when this started happening but I think only in the last few months.
Today I also noticed this issue. System restarts helped here. Never seen this before…
Thanks for the post back. Just as peterweb, I cannot duplicate the issue you are seeing. On all your computers do you have "Remote Management" set in settings? If not please enable it and restart ALL your machines. Then log into your Norton account via the user interface at the top right. This is so they can sync to your Norton account.
If that doesn't clear the issue do the following on one machine:
Run the Removal Tool, make sure you are logged into an account on your computer that has admin privileges. Perform a remove only scenario as instructed in this article using the portion labeled " I need help removing Norton". Reboot, THEN reinstall your product by logging into your Norton account, download from there. Once the install is completed, close your browser. Manually run live update and get any patches available. Get them one at a time and REBOOT when each are installed whether instructed to or not. Finish getting any remaining updates, reboot yet again. Recheck for your issue and please let us know your results for follow-up!!
Cheers
I've just checked both of those and I am an administrator, and I have the latest version 22.20.5.39.
Hello facboy. If you can open Control Panel on your computer check the following information in the screenshot below to validate whether your account used to log in has admin credentials. Make changes as necessary if needed and reboot.
To verify the version of your Norton product open the UI , user interface icon in the system tray. Top right area click HELP. Next screen click ABOUT. Your product version will appear on the left side of the screen in the dialog that appear. 22.20.5.39 is the latest version.Knowing this information will help peterweb assist you further.
Cheers
It’s whatever the current version is, not in front of my PC atm I’m afraid. I checked for a new version and it said it was the current one. It does have VPN because it keeps bugging me about it.
What version of Norton 360 is installed on these systems? Is this the new 360? ie With the VPN feature.
3 devices. All Windows 10, two are 2004 and one is 1909.
How many devices is this happening on? What operating systems and OS versions are on these devices?
i've just checked and this problem happens on both my other machines as well.
oh...sorry i see what you mean by admin account. it's an admin account in that it can elevate via UAC.
Try a Windows admin account to see if you still see the same issue. Besides, a standard Windows user cannot change any Norton settings anyway.
Be sure you have run LiveUpdate manually a few times, restarting as necessary, until no updates are available.
i don't have fast startup enabled.
no, it's a normal user account.
I just tried opening Settings multiple times and had no issue as you are seeing?
Are you restarting your computer. Not shutdown and startup again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here.
Are you using a Windows Admin account?
