P.S. this is the AntivirXP08 problem that is listed elsewhere in this forum. I've read those threads but I'm still at a loss here....
As submitting to Symantec doesn't work.
Please try to run Malwarebytes.
You can download it from here.
Update and than run a full scan.
Thanks. I downloaded that and it is currently running...already found 5 files.
One thing that concerns me, though...as I was running the Malwarebytes program, Symantic AV Realtime Protection Scan found a *new* virus on my computer. Trojan.Packed.13.
Is this related to the download.mislead.app file or is it a different one? It seems suspicious that it was found right after I d/l and installed the Malwarebytes program....?????
So far, so good....the malware program found 28 infected files (!!) and it seems that it was able to fix/delete all of them upon reboot.
So far, no annoying bogus pop-ups or virus alerts during the realtime scan. <keeping fingers crossed>
Thanks a bunch!!!!
I would also recommend that you follow the steps listed in the How To Troubleshoot a Suspected Malware Infection announcement. This post provides detailed instructions on identifying and removing threats. Additionally, I would also recommend that you review the Trojan.Packed.13 document for more information on this threat. Thanks!
