I can’t uninstall OnlineFamily from my Mac. I open the Symantec Uninstaller, but it doesn’t detect any software. Also, I can’t find the actual files that run Online Family.
Hi ckxskier,
1. Please tell us what version of Norton Safety Minder you are trying to uninstall.
2. You mentioned "can't find the actual files that run Online Family", so is the Norton Safety Minder active and does the program work well?
3. Have you tried the following to uninstall NSM?
- In the Applications folder on your a Mac, open the Symantec Solutions folder, and then double-click Symantec Uninstaller.
- In the Uninstall Symantec Products window, check Norton Safety Minder.
- Click Uninstall.
- To confirm that you want to uninstall Norton Safety Minder, click Uninstall.
- In the Authenticate window, type your administrator name and password, and then click OK.
- In the Uninstall complete window, click Close.
- Click Next.
- Restart your computer.
Thanks,
Katie
I’m not sure what version of OnlineFamily I have. Where do I find that? I have tried running the Symantec Uninstaller, but it says I don’t have any Symantec software installed.
cdxskier,
Please tell me what makes you think Norton Safety Minder is still installed on the Mac. Is it possible it has been uninstalled?
If it's still on the system, you can find out the version number of NSM by going to Norton QuickMenu/Norton Safety MInder/Edit Accounts, and you will see the version of Norton Safety Minder on the screen(see screen snap please).
Thanks,
Katie
It’s still installed because I still see the snap menu at the top and it’s still sending messages regarding internet activity. The version of quick menu is 2.0.
cdxskier,
We are looking for version number of Norton Safety Minder, and please go to
Norton QuickMenu
Norton Safety Minder
Edit Accounts, and you will see the version of Norton Safety Minder
Thanks,
Katie
It is version 1.1.0f51.
cdxskier,
Thanks for the information. NSM1.1.0f51 is not compatible with Mac OS 10.6 currently. We are working on a new version of NSM 1.2 actively and it will be compatible with MAC OS 10.6.
Thanks,
Katie
So let me get this straight: I installed the program onto OS 10.6, but I can’t remove it because it is installed on OS 10.6?! A company that sells products to remove unwelcomed programs has implanted one on my computer. Nice…
Hi cdxskier,
Thanks for your patience and cooperation. I'm glad to inform you that Norton Safety Minder 1.2 for Mac is available now. You probably have already received the update through Automatic LiveUpdate last night. If not, you can download the full new installer on www.onlinefamily.norton.com and it should correct the issue that you're experiencing.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Katie
Try this norton utility to remove all norton files from your system, it worked for me :)
