I am having a lot of trouble getting my site verified. I got an email from Symantec. I posted the code in root directory. I used the email link to check that the code is viewable...it is. Now I tried to verify but am repeatedly being told "site verification failed."
Don't know if I am missing a step?
The site is KinderBaby.com.au. Any assistance is appreciated.
Thanks for your reply. I have followed those exact steps right from the start. It doesn't work. I have tried it some 8 times and it still is not working.

Then I am surprised that you cannot confirm verification. I shall flag you post to the attention of the Safe Web Team perhap they will recognize it.
If you are asked to place your authentication code in a meta tag, here are the instruction, "just in case".
You can create this new tag using your site building program. You may have already used Meta Tags for adding a description or keywords to your main page. Use nortonsw as the file name and the full authentication code as the content. The File Content or authentication code is the very long alphanumeric code that would have been sent in your email registration.
When viewing the source code for your site, be sure this tag is located in the head section of your main page, between <head> and </head>.
If you do not wish to create a new tag, you can add the authentication code to an already exisitng Meta Tag such as keywords.
Use your site building program to edit an existing tag such as keywords. Copy and paste the File Content from your email registration, (the very long alphanumeric code) to an already existing tag on your main page. Be sure it is separated from the other entries with a comma.
Example: .... "keywords" content="dogs, cats, horses, zp_4srd6nros..............u30fm24fy (Norton SW File Content is in blue text.)
Although neither of these methods will allow for the automated verification, it should assist the Safe Web team in verifying your site.
