I'm running Mozilla Thunderbird 24.6.0 on a venerable Dell Inspiron 1200 in Windows XP. Norton 360 is supplied as part of my Earthlink subscription.
I have slow operation in general, but particularly in Mozilla Thunerbird, in part due to ccsvchst.exe gobbling all of my CPU shortly after startup, which appatrently causes the downloads to time out. Is there a possible workaround for this? For what it;'s worth, I have 2 gig of RAM and half of this seems always to be in use; running Process Exlorer seems to indicate that much of this to be by Norton.
I have run NRE to see if there is something untoward lurking in my system but it turned up nothing the last two times I did this.
