I recently installed the Comcast version of Norton and it found some tracking cookies and a program I intentionally download (LophtCrack). I told Norton to "Fix" the problems, and it popped up a window asking how to handle such things in the future.
In my haste, I checked the "automatically remove low level risks/threats in the future" option, continued, and then realized I could have chosen "ask me before...".
I couldn't find how to restore the "ask me" setting in Help, and searching the forums only told me that everyone else who asked the same question never got a complete answer. Only that "you can't change it for medium and high risk threats", and how to restore files that were already removed/quarantined.
The answer (at least for the 2010 Comcast version) is:
1) In the main window, click Settings in the upper right. A new window should appear.
2) Select the Antivirus link in the Detailed Setting area. (It's the uppermost left link in mine.)
3) In the "Automatic Protection" tab there is a "Remove Advanced Detections Automatically" setting that I have set to Off. I'm not sure how this one differs from the next one in step 4.
4) In the "Scans and Risks" tab, Look under the Exclusions/Low Risks area, and set "Low Risks" to "Ask Me" or to whatever of three settings you want. (Mine was set to "Automatic" as a result of hastily selecting that as indicated above.)
5) Apply your settings (bottom of that window) and that should do it.
I tried to Reply to the other threads on this, but one that did not say Solved didn't seem to have a active Reply button, or at least, Firefox wouldn't let me select it.

P.S. I'm actually not a newbie, but my 2004 registration didn't seem active. I've used Norton's since DOS 3.x days, and stopped when Comcast made McAfee available and Norton became a CPU hog. Then McAfee became a CPU hog and Comcast offered Norton, so I'm semi-glad to be back. We'll see!
