Cloned a HDD to my new SDD Samsung 830 256gb ERRORS

Can't help you there but SATA  lll should be backwards compatible and I gather it is cheaper than SATA ll.

Gonna try my PC 2 today  used a portable HDD to put the image on. Not sure if I should wait for the SDD card before I rebuild . Have you ever tried Crashplan?

No I haven't.

I got a problem Brian  I am fitting a  Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS4 iP35 and my Graphics card does not fit a GeForce 6600 GT its about 5mm out

Dale,

The last day hasn't been kind to you. Maybe a hacksaw? Sorry.

I have a thread coming up that will interest you.

what is it about ???

Got a new error brrrrrrrr I wish I had done a fresh install now :smileymad: I am trying to creat a new profile on my main machine I am getting C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop error plus a few others. If I try to create a standard profile it will not load saying profile not found. If I change it to a Admin it loads but everything looks wrong and the name of the profile does not add itself to users.?????

Dale,

Is this on the SSD OS? I'm not familiar with those errors. A restored image should be identical to the source OS.

Yep on SSD image I do not think it is that must be how it was before. It wil not let me make another user! I can create one but if they are standard they cannot login. If I change it to admin user they login but it only lets them do in as a default user profile not the named one created.!!!

Ok Brian I am going to work with some forums re my Win 7 issues on my current desktop. The reason is it is running fine for me as it is and other user is not critical. But I do not want to use this on my other machine so I am going to install Win 7 fresh to avoid any crap. I have a brandnew SSD drive OCZ 120 gb can I just connect it and boot my win 7 drive and do an install on it ??

Or do I have to prepare the drive some how ??????

Dale,

I guess you want to use the SSD as a single partition drive. If you don't install Win7 into a partition you get that annoying SRP.

Use BIBM to create a NTFS partition. Click View MBR and Set Active. Then boot the Win7 disk and do a Custom install into that partition.

Hi Brian I think I am gonna have to do a new install to many issue probably bloast ware and I like a nice fresh system. DO I just do the sam e as the last disk

What do I do with my current partition ????? Just delete it first?

Dale,

Yes, the same. Delete the current Win7 partition, create a new partition and set it Active. Setting Active is important as the booting files are installed into the Active partition. For example, if the partition you created is not active and there is an active partition on the second HD, booting files will be installed into the second HD partition and not into the first HD Win7 partition.

Cheers Brian getting there what a couple of weeks. Where is this post you were on about ?

Dale, you missed it. It concerned your original issue.
