Is there a way for me to go through my things that are backed up and delete what I don't want or need without going through each one? I had selected my files, folders, docs, music and photos but i think there is an awful lot of junk and garbage of things that I saved and made a file for that was for one time use. there are over 2000 items. is there a way to group or categorize to get rid of things like sceen shots or captures that are probably on there?
if something happened to my computer, i would just go to cloud and download to new laptop?
thanks
Here is an article from How to Geek on Windows S mode and how to tell if you have it. https://www.howtogeek.com/354057/what-is-windows-10-in-s-mode/#:~:text=You%20can%20check%20whether%20you,re%20not%20using%20S%20Mode.
If you do have Windows in S mode, you can only install the UWP app from the Windows Store. And as the image shows, it does not seem to include a Backup feature. This seems to be backed up by this article from helpnetsecurity lists the features of UWP, again no Backup listed. https://www.helpnetsecurity.com/2021/07/26/nortonlifelock-lenovo/
If you really want a backup feature, you can check the Windows Store to see if you can find one compatible with Windows S. Or you can choose to remove the S mode from your computer. There are instructions in the How to Geek article. Just note that it is a one way change. You cannot change your mind. Once you remove S mode, there is no way to go back to it.
The new laptop i am trying to download all functions of Norton to, has latest Windows 11 (is this the issue?). I have no idea what "s" mode is?
Also, when I look at that link you sent about "You need to install Norton UWP app" in the diagrams there is no Cloud Backup icon on that example either.
Is there anyway to contact NORTON customer support directly to fix issues like this? Pretty annoying.
You just gave me another clue. You do not get Norton from the Windows Store unless you are using Windows in S mode. If that is the case, the feature set seems to be different for that Windows version.
If you have Window in S Mode, you cannot install the regular Norton 360. You need to install Norton UWP app from the Windows store. See this Norton Product Announcement. https://community.norton.com/en/blogs/product-service-announcements/nort... Looking at the images in this announcement, there does not appear to be a Backup feature.
So I went through the process again:
sent link via email from my current subscription
it says download, goes to microsoft app store and free trial version pops up
download it, says 7 day free trial or have my own subscription, take later
download, and still seem to get the version without cloud back up, just get the following icons:
Device Security / Internet Security / secure VPN / Passwoed Manager / Dark Web Monitoring
No cloud back up!
tried the other suggestions, it does not seem to be hidden anywhere - please help, how do I get this add-on that I am paying for???
If you are looking at the My Norton interface, you may have to scroll down to see the Backup feature. Also check the classic interface to see if you have the Backup feature showing there. To open the classic interface from the My Norton interface, click on Open beside Device Security. Or you can right click on the Norton icon in the system tray and click on Open Norton 360.
As for Norton not starting. Are you referring to the interface not coming up when you start your computer? If so, that is not how the product works. You can check to see if Norton is working by opening Windows Task Manager. Right click on the task bar at the bottom of the screen and click on Task Manager. Then look for Norton Security. You should see a couple of entries there that indicate Norton is working.
If you just do not see the Norton icon in the system tray, try clicking on the little up arrow to the left of the system tray and look for Norton in the hidden icons. If you find it there, you can drag it to the main system tray.
