Comcast Norton Replacement - installation help

I plan to replace the no-longer-freeish Comcast version of Norton with Norton 360. Can I just delete the copies of Norton I currently have and install the new software after I buy it? Or is there some special process when getting rid of an old installation?

Thanks.

@Puzzled Look

Thanks for the feed back.

That seems to verify that there are remnants of the Comcast Norton left behind and as you suggested - is cleaner to uninstall the current Norton.

IMHO, following the instructions to use the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool, using Advanced/Remove would be the best way for the less tech savey or those who do not use apps similar to Geek Uninstaller.

The installation on top of the old Comcast Norton works. But it leaves behind all the old files, about 140 MB; they just do not get activated anymore. So to free up the space I uninstalled them using Geek Uninstaller and everything seems to be working fine. Probably it is cleaner to uninstall Comcast Norton first then install Norton 360. But the side-by-side install worked fine.

Thanks. I have a similar deal with several devices all running the Comcast Norton,  so I will try just installing the new Norton on  top and see what flies.

Please let us know what you discovered after trying to install over the top of Comcast's Norton.

I had the Comcast Norton online program and purchased Norton 360 deluxe on black Friday. On one of my computers I downloaded the Norton removal tool and removed the Comcast program and then proceeded to install the Norton 360 deluxe--no problems. On a second computer I just installed the Norton 360 deluxe without removing the previous program--the installation program must have seen the existing norton product and removed it without any extra steps.

I don't think it is necessary to remove the norton online from comcast/xfinity to install the Norton 360 product.
