currently using CCNSS Backup on [3] pc's with external 1Tb USB hdd as Where: for all backups. backup sets do not exceed 10Gb total. after several months backing up, 1Tb hdd is full.
using CCNSS backup, how can i limit backup versions so as to automatically delete older backup dates while keeping current mo?
how to i set FULL backups & INCREMENTAL backups to maximize backup storage. i like making [1] FULL backup weekly with [6] INCREMENTAL backups daily. if i keep [1] month, then start over with Full backup, that usually gives me protection i'm looking for.
can't figure out how to setup CCNSS to implement this backup strategy.
Automation deletion of older backup sets doesn't happen. We have to manually remove the sets.
"Backup sets do not exceed 10GB, but it fills 1TB HDD" : This looks strange and it shouldn't happen for incremental backups
Norton always does incremental backup. It backs up those files that have most recently changed. In case if you have 'n' backup sets with the same set of files, then "n" set entries will be stored in the hard drive and leads to filling of HDD.
So its better to have Backup sets with commonly used files, set the schedule as automatic (Weekly). Doing this way, Norton does Full backup for the first time and Incremetal backup (Changed files / Newly added files to the Backup set) for the future weeks.
Repeat the same procedure for the new backup sets you create in the future as well.
