Comcast's Norton Download

Hello,

Alright.  So I just purchased a brand new 64bit OS computer and comcast has a "security" tab.  Upon clicking that it downloads "Norton Secuity Suite 4" or something of that nature... however, It's for 32bit systems.  There's no options to download for 64.  I just assumed it didn't exist... and now I'm getting all kinds of error messages and my computers failing to start.

I want to do 2 things.

1) Delete everything... and I mean everything.  This things all over the place in my program files x86 and scattered who knows where.

2) Get 64bit

Does my being a comcast customer entitle me to the 64 bit or do I have to purchase it seperately?  Thanks in advance for any help!

Welcome to Norton Community forum!!!

What is the flavor of Windows that you have? If it is Windows XP 64 bit, you cannot install the Norton Security Suite product. If it is Windows Vista or Windows 7, you can install Norton Security Suite without any problem, as it is fully compatible.

Please go through the following Knowledge Base Article for more information:

I have windows 7 and it states on the comcast download its 32bit.  I have been having all sorts of error problems with Norton.  I used the uninstall feature and it left things behind everywhere.

There's norton under my public folder.  Norton.exe files under my windows folder.  Symantec under my mike folder.  It's everywhere.

It's also under program data and the list keeps growing when I view hidden...

3047.53 was was of my recurring errors over and over.

Thank you for the error code.

To resolve this problem, I suggest you to run the Norton Removal Tool and then reinstall the Norton product.

To download the Norton Removal Tool, please refer the following Knowledge Base article:

After you run the Norton Removal Tool, please download Norton Security Suite using the following Knowledge Base article:

If you follow this link and then go half way down the page, and click on system requirements. you will see that Windows 7 (64 bit) is supported, it states in part:

.

"Microsoft® Windows® 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) Starter/Home Basic/Home Premium/Professional/Ultimate"

.

Follow Vineeth's suggested actions to start with.

.

I have a comment  though, did your new system come with any trail security programs installed?  If it did and it was a Norton product then Vineeeth's procedure should get you up and running.

.

If it was not a Norton product, post back and let us know which security product it was, as there are different removal tools for differentl products and you need to remove all traces of any previous scurity protection before attempting to install Noroton.

.

Please post back with the results.

Hello MMaslow2

Your thread was moved because you have the Comcast version of the Norton product. It's called Comcast Norton Security Suite. It is actually based on N360 Norton program. The name of it is similar to Norton Internet Security. Since you mentioned Comcast, we believe you have been trying to use Comcast Norton Security Suite which you download from the Comcast site. All the threads having to do with Comcast Norton Security Suite have been moved to this Other Products section of the Forum. You have not been censored, this is just where the threads having to do with Comcast are posted.

I hope this explains to you why your thread was moved. It has nothing to do with the stability of the program. After trying CNSS and you don't like it, you can try NIS trial and see how you like that., but first lets see how you make out with getting CNSS to work for you. Thanks.

To my knowledge Comcast Security Suite runs on both 32 and 64-bit.  I have a Windows Vista 64-bit computer (actually two of them) with Comcast Norton Security Suite installed and one running Windows XP (32-bit).  All of them have Comcast's Norton Security Suite installed and they work fine.
