"Computer has been started in safe mode and Norton Safety Monitor is not monitoring."

I get this message all the time but the computer has not been started in Safe Mode.  Is there a fix or workaround for this?

which version of Windows do you use?

And what is the exact version number of Norton Safety Minder installed on your machine?

This is on Windows Vista SP1

Norton Safety Monitor 2.0.0.48

Onliine Framwork 2.0.0.71

You should try to remove, and then reinstall Norton Safety Minder.

 

It's possible that some of it's file(s) has been damaged, and it reports things wrongly...

Thanks for the update.  Why are you so sure the computer has not been started in Safe Mode?  Is it possible the kid started the PC in safe mode?

I re-installed and it still gives me the message. 

I am sure that it is not started in Safe Mode because it does it when I log in normally as them.

Also, it is a dual-boot Windows XP PRo and Vista system...if that is causing anything.

 

I am STILL having this probelm after re-install.

Could you check if any essential services are disabled or computer is configured to start with "Selective Startup"?

 

To check for Selective Startup, do the following:

 

1. Click Start > Run.

2. Type the following and then click OK:

msconfig

3. On the General tab, make sure Normal is selected.

4. Click Apply > OK if you have made any changes.

5. Restart the computer.
