.conf files removed by Norton

An hour ago Norton Auto-Protect informed me of a virus found on my computer:

Filename: vgx.conf
Threat name: Downloader
Full Path: c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\vgx\vgx.conf

Earlier this morning Norton blocked an intrusion attempt:  Fake App Attack: Fake Application Website

I thought maybe it somehow must have snuck in during the intrusion attempt but then I received another auto-protect notice of another downloader threat:

Filename: nch swift sound.conf
Threat name: Downloader
Full Path: c:\users\gkdiamond\appdata\roaming\nch swift sound\nch swift sound.conf

I am not familiar with the first file but the second file belongs to a sound converter program and not very likely to be a virus. I am wondering, did Norton just add the "conf" file search to their latest update?
