Conflicting messages from NOB

I tried my first backup. One piece of feedback from NOB tells me that I've used 13.62 GB of 26 GB. When I tried to look at what had actually been transferred, I got the other message: "No files have been backed up for this computer." And this session ended itself with about 2 GB of data yet to be transferred. I spent more than an hour in a chat session yesterday. The tech rep could not solve the problem and ultimately decided that the problem was with my computer. He reached that conclusion after using Norton's remote access and trying unsuccessfully to uninstall the NOB software from my system. When we ended the session, I found that the NOB software had, in fact, been uninstalled. I'd like to give this Norton product a shot, but unless someone can help me unravel this mystery, I will have to look elsewhere.
