Connectsafe/Norton DNS servers offline?

When i use Norton DNS/Connectsafe servers 198.153.192.40 and 198.153.194.40 (only Malware blocking policy), IP adresses are not resolved, in all web programs i use (Firefox, IE11, Thunderbird, Windows Store).

Using my provider's DNS servers gives no problems.

 

I am using Windows 8.1 64-bits running NIS 21.1.0.18.

 

Anything known about problems with these servers, especially in The Netherlands?

 

Another problem is with the Norton DNS website which often gives an error : 503 - Service Temporarily Unavailable, f.i.

I've tried to go to http://dns.norton.com/dnsweb/homePage.do  but I get an error;

I'm using the same 198.153.192.40 and 198.153.194.40 (only Malware blocking policy) and I'm not experiencing conncetion problems with any other sites.  I am located in Australia, so it is possible the closest server to you is down.

I just changed to my ISP DNS servers and although it took ages to load, this page did - https://connectsafe.norton.com/dnsweb/faq.do.

It saw the status page also, so there should not be any problemes, but it still did not work (since yesterday morning up till a short while ago).

I then changed my routers DNS to my providers' and added the DNS servers to the NW-adapters on my systems individually (leaving my router on my ISP's DNSes) and it still did not work.

 

Since 10 minutes it is working again, so there should have been a problem on the Europe servers of which there are 2 only 30 kilometers from my town Utrecht : Amsterdam X2, being the port to Europe.

 

I will keep the DNS settings on my adapters for a few days and then change my router back to Norton DNS and only then mark this as solved.

 

Still have the problems with Norton's DNS sites intermittently and loading takes ages indeed!

I'm now having problems accessing the home page using my ISP DNS.

 

I've raised this with Symantec, I'll let you know if and when I hear anything.

Do you mean the Norton DNS home page?

I too still have problems there...sometimes it appears and sometimes it gives the 503 error.

I can ony confirm what Krusty experiences; for me from Holland, for him from Australia. So there still must be a central problem at Symantec servers.

I can confirm this is still happening as @ 12.55pm, local Sydney time.
