Hi
When trying to set up Microsoft 355 Outlook core protection alert keeps going off and telling me to allow permission on apps even though I have had the app on my phone for over a year.
The only way I noticed is because I had an issue with my e mail address and had to delete the Outlook app reinstall and changed my password.
But now when I try to log in to outlook I am unable to and get the wrong password details on outlook yet all entered details are correct.
I keep getting the core protection alerts while doing all this so I’m also thinking Norton could be stopping me loging in maybe?
I have set all the apps to allow like requested by Norton yet Norton still keeps going round in a circle repeating its alerts.
Everything on the app is set to allow and trusted.
Even other apps are now setting off the core protection alerts.

Help please
Thanks
Here is what I found regarding your issue. Note: Keep in mind that AI can make mistakes.
AI Overview
Issues with Microsoft 365 Outlook core protection settings or app functionality on Android 16 (particularly reported around April 2026 on Samsung Galaxy devices) are likely caused by a conflict between the new Android OS security protocols and the Microsoft Intune app protection policy backend, resulting in app freezes, blank screens, or failure to apply security policies.
Immediate Troubleshooting Steps
- Update Android System WebView: Go to the Google Play Store, search for “Android System WebView,” and ensure it is fully updated, as this is the primary cause of app crashes after Android updates.
- Clear App Cache & Data: Go to Settings > Apps > Outlook > Storage, then select Clear Cache and Clear Data.
- Re-add the Account: Remove your work account from Outlook, restart your phone, and then add it back.
- Update/Reinstall Intune Company Portal: If your organization uses Intune, ensure the Company Portal app is updated, or uninstall/reinstall it to refresh device compliance policies.
- Check Battery Optimization: Set Microsoft Outlook and Intune Company Portal to “Not optimized” or “Unrestricted” in your phone’s battery settings to prevent security agents from being closed by the system.
Known Issues & Workarounds (as of April 2026)
- Samsung Device Specifics: Many reports indicate this issue is prevalent on Samsung Galaxy S24/S25 devices running recent security patches (April 2026).
- Force Sync Policy: If App Protection Policies are not applying, users have reported success by using the “Secure Folder” feature on Samsung devices for Microsoft apps.
- Wait for App Update: Microsoft has confirmed that some authentication issues on newer Android versions require a fix to the Microsoft Authenticator or Outlook apps themselves to handle new security requirements.
If the issue persists, the problem may be an incompatibility with the specific build of Android 16 on your device, necessitating a report to Microsoft or your organization’s IT support.
One Question is, do you use “Outlook Lite” on this device?
