Hi,
I have installed Comodo Ice Dragon after researching it and am overall pleased but it's missing one thing.. the Norton toolbar. I cannot implement it. I have IE 11 which doesn't always work for me and I uninstalled Chrome today. (The toolbar stays on IE and stuck to Chrome most of the time.)
Here's my thing. I had a Thoracic Aortic Dissection 2 yrs ago and still experience some difficulties stemming from that. One of those difficulties is a reduced memory. This is the primary reason I need the Norton toolbar in CID. Not only does it have a large capacity for pwds and since it's Norton, is believed to be secure... but it also allows me to share some pages to different sites better than copy-pasting the web address link.
I don't like the excuse that CID isn't included in what the toolbar sticks to at this time and the pushback that it's not Firefox. It's Firefox based.. a familiar framework and considering that it's gaining in reputation and familiarity not to mention that it's a relative item for your products to touch, evaluate and protect, to me it's as they say.. a 'no brainer' for Norton to be able to be implemented with it in any and all ways applicable to your products.
I have posed the question to the Comodo forum and here is their response:
"You mention that the extension is not listed in the Add-ons manager andso it seems there are two issues.
The first issue is related to the way the add-on is installed. Roboform is installed as a third party application and its add-on is installed to a location specific to Mozilla Firefox. Even if we changed IceDragon so that it reads the add-on data from the default location used by Firefox, Roboform would not add the extension there unless Firefox is already installed on the system.
When Firefox is installed, Roboform uses the following registry location to set the extension details: HKLM\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions. To make IceDragon detect the extension correctly you have to create the following registry location: HKLM\Software\Comodo\IceDragon\Extensions and add the corresponding value from Firefox. When you launch IceDragon the next time it will load the Roboform add-on (it should also be present in the Add-ons manager).
The real solution for this issue would be to ask the Roboform developers to include IceDragon support into their application. This has been done in the past for CCleaner."
Within this response is a hint toward what appears to me to be a very viable solution and ought to be acted upon by the powers that be in this company. (I don't know if your toolbar is/from Roboform or they're not familiar with your product specifically thus referring to what they do know.)
On an additional note..
I have System Mechanic Pro 12. I **love** it. I am not a computer tech in the least... I would have no clue, and at this point in time memory, where to go and what to do in order to keep my system running straight. I am familiar with the option to have it as an a/v, I have not chosen that upon downloading this product.
When you download SM it gives you about 4 different options of what features you would like to install with the base product purchased. I left the a/v feature box unchecked. I do not have SM as an a/v in any way. I mention this cuz there's some new Norton box that comes up and says I have a conflicting program then it indicates its desire to uninstall SM.
I would sooner find a new a/v to protect my system than uninstall System Mechanic.
