Why is this important?

Well, as I said, it validates the complaints of posters who claimed they downloaded the product but that it didn't install correctly.

Moreover, it suggests a correlation to the number of live updates that don't take or appear to cause problems after the update.  Which is another possible explanation for what happened to my computer.  (I got a live update that required rebooting and on the rebooting I had six missing vital files and errors in the registry on what had up to then appeared to be a perfectly tuned computer).

Interested spectators may play with two anonymous installers at my download site for this.

These are the exact files, nothing viral, no computer damage on these.  One starts an install, but gives you the option to cancel first; the other refuses to start and explains why.  Have fun.

Sorry about adding messages.  It seems we lose the ability to edit messages after a period of time -- at least I have.

Anyway, I would be interested in knowing who else who got corrupted downloads of Norton product installers uses IE7 Pro to manage their downloads.  What if the software is somehow the problem?

Good night, all.

WebSafe is beta for 1. Secondly using any type of download manager can corrupt certain files. Try downloading the files only using the default downloaded in your browser. Also I already suggested. Dont use IE. Use Firefox.

My experience is that Safeweb is corrupting things as well. But , heay, it's beta so it should be
