Hello,
I received from Norton, the following email concerning a coupon code:
"Please read below and claim your coupon code
Dear customer,
As a valued Norton customer, we would like to thank you by offering you a £10 coupon code that can be used at the Norton Online Store for your next product or service purchase.
Follow the steps below to use the coupon code:
- Shop http://buy.norton.com and add your items to the cart.
- Copy and Paste ********** in the coupon field and click "Apply".
- Complete purchase and receive £10 off the cart total.
You must use the coupon code by 28/2/2014.
Coupon Code: **********
Coupon Code Value: £10
Best wishes,
The Norton Team"
On 07Jan2014 my credit card will be automatically debited for the annual subscription (Automatic Renewal).
Do I have to disable the "Automatic Renewal Service" and proceed manually in order to claim the £10 deduction or the reward is only for new products in order to buy them?
Thank you in advance.
Hi,
Interesting.
First time I've seen something like that and the URL is also interesting. I'm going to ask one of the moderators if they can confirm that it is a valid offer before giving out any instructions on how to use it. I think @Tony_Weiss would be a good one to ask.
We'll keep you posted

Regardless of what we find here for you about the coupon, if your autorenewal is going to be charged on the 7th Jan, it is probably too late to cancel that for this year.
You might be able to get an answer from Norton Support via the online chat and explain about the auto renewal and the coupon code. They may be able to assist in verifying the coupon, and may be able to apply it to your renewal. www.norton.com/chat
If the renewal goes through, and the coupon turns out to be valid, you can still request a refund for the renewal and then make the purchase with the coupon. (If the price difference makes sense.) You can start that process via online chat also.

Jimmy -- are you in the UK? If not then I'd add that to the suggestion of avoiding the offer.
Have you checked on line prices from reputable sources like Amazon (US/UK) to see how their price compares with the price you would get after the £10 reduction? You can use a key bought like that on your installed product when the subscription is about to run out but you have to buy the same version, Standard / Premium, and it may not work with some UK sources like PCWorld who have special arrangements with Norton.
Hello,
First of all, thank you all, for your replies and your effort.
Probably, as Peter said, it is too late to cancel the autorenewal.
Hugh, I am not in the UK, I am Greek. I just thought that the deduction of £10 (if this would take place) would be the euro equivalent (around 12 euros).
By the way, just for your info, the email address from which I received the email is: norton@nortonfromsymantec.com
Once again, thank you all, for your replies and your effort.

I just checked the URL which is a mail to: address but then broke off the bit before the @ leaving nortonfromsymantec.com
Norton says:
Norton Safe Web has analyzed nortonfromsymantec.com for safety and security problems.
Summary
Norton Safe Web found no issues with this site.
But user comments would seem to disagree: http://safeweb.norton.com/reviews?page=1&url=nortonfromsymantec.com
So I'd be inclined to be cautious.
Emails from @nortonfromsymantec.com are legitimate Norton/Symantec emails. Thanks.
Perhaps Safe Web could address the adverse comments and their rather luke warm OK of the site?
was it able to get sorted in the end? I hope so
cheers
Paul
