Creating Custom Recovery Disk with Ghost 14 is not intuitive - how do I do this ?

I'm new to ghost 14, and want to create a custom recover disk.  I go to tasks to create the recover disk, select my DVD/CD RW drive, put in blank DVD-R, and I keep getting an error that this is an invalid recovery disk location.  So, I'm thinking that maybe it wants to see the Norton Ghost CD that I bought first to pull in, information from it.  I put this in, and then it says creating temporary files with a progress bar.  Eventually, it will will error saying I need to put writable media in CD/DVD drive.  I put the DVD-R back in, and I keep getting errors.

So, when the manual references symantec recovery disk, is the the actual Ghost CD ?   For creating a first time custom recovery disk, do I need to use this Ghost CD to create the custom disk ?   Do I actually have to buy a DVD-RW disk or can I use the DVD-R  (isn't a DVD-R writable ?)

Thanks,,

Chris
