On 28 July I discovered my daughters Windows 8.1 laptop was now not able to run or update Norton 360.
I tried to access the online support which failed to work and It googled Norton and obtained what appeared be the Norton support number. I dialled and went through an automated call answering system and then spoke to support technical staff who tried to connect my daughters laptop via fastsupport over the internet. I was phoned back by a technician who I believed was working for Norton who connected to another working PC on my network and advised that I required an anti-malware program called Cynate anti-malware on all the PCs on my network to run alongside Norton. I paid £119.99 to have Cynate installed on my PC's. I managed to perform a system refresh on the laptop and get the Laptop working.
I am now worried as I can't find any information about Cynate anti-malware. The invoice payment went to a company called Cognus Technology (www.cognustech.com).
Is the Cynate program now running on my PCs legitimate anti-malware software ad should it be running alongside Norton ?
