Delete files in Sandbox Folder on Root Drive?

I attempted to install a trusted program tonight that Norton 360 deemed to be suspicious on account of it not being digitally signed. After completing its scan, I told Norton to run the program anyway. It did so. The program itself seems to have installed to the proper directory. But remnants of the installation process were placed in the Norton Sandbox folder on the root drive. I tried to delete the files in that folder as there is no need for them to be there. I am unable to do so as my PC is telling me I don’t have sufficient privileges.

Norton Sandbox in the settings UI does not identify that any programs are running from the Sandbox. It offers no options to purge the folder. How do I delete the contents of that folder?

Hello @Darrell_Wunder
for example:

Please try temporarily disabling Product Tamper Protection…and then try Delete.

I had the same problem but after completing the suggested steps on this thread I’m not able to erase the Sandbox folder, the Windows Explorer crashes everytime I try. Any suggestions?

and you disabled Product Tamper Protection?

Did you Close app - running in Norton sandbox? (allow a few moments for processes to close)

Hello @LuisFernandez_C
before I forget: regarding my message here
after deleting S-1-5 folder.
I wasn’t able to delete snx_rhive file.
I restarted machine to clear Norton sandbox.

Hello @LuisFernandez_C

@bjm - Fancy meeting you here. I want to run a new program in Norton Sandbox. I never even knew it existed. I assume you must first try to use it before the Sandbox folder appears on the root of your C Drive. What you didn’t mention above amigo is, at least on my windows 10 machine is that that folder is a hidden folder. Right?
Next, I also couldn’t delete the contents, until after a system restart, then everything, plus the folder itself was gone. Does this sound right to you?

Yes, I’m always Show → Hidden items…so, I do forget to mention Norton sandbox folder is hidden.
Yes, I’ve needed to restart machine here to clear Norton sandbox.

Caveat: Sandboxie+ is my daily rider.

@BJM. Thanks for verification. Today will be my first go at it with a simple screensaver program that I liked back in the Vista days. It’s not a simple .scr that you place within the System 32. It’s a full .exe screensaver.

What did you mean by “Caveat: Sandboxie+ is my daily rider.”

I meant Sandboxie-Plus is my daily rider.

@bjm – You know you just piqued my curiosity. I went to the Sandboxie link you left above, and read the little I was faced with. So I’d like to pick your mind if you don’t mind BJM.

1- Do you use Sandboxie or Sandboxie Plus?
2-Why do you feel it is superior to Norton, though that might be a dumb question.
3-Is it a big deal to set up and use. I get the feeling there are lots of settings etc.
Thanks Amigo
