Issue abstract:

Detailed description: Problem removing old backups. After re-installing Norton I want to remove the previous backup from this latest version and the previous backups from my previous version of Norton. I have deleted the backup on the cloud but cannot delete the entry in Norton, it just as the restore button and the view folder. apologies if I am not clear. In the attached screenshot(3) the one I have deleted online is W11L1-ALL-2 but I cannot figure out how to get rid of this entry?

Product & version number: Norton 360 Delux

OS details: Windows 11 Home 24H2

What is the error message you are seeing?

If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them:

Did you Sign Out your Norton account?
Did you restart machine?
Did you try Sign Out at Norton 360 Home…restart machine…Sign In at Norton 360 Home.

Reset to Default clears out my My Backups…including my working/synching backup set…then I’d need to start over.

Please post progress

fwiw ~ as test: deleted backup set…Desktop-Dell…online → Sign Out online

we’re still spinning

Hi thank you so much. I logged out, used the “reset to default” and restarted. That removed the entries in my client but not those online. I did that bit without any problems. So thank you. I have decided to start again from scratch knowing I have another standalone backup of all of my data.

Also your screenshot is what I did thinking it the right thing to do. Not so sure now.

Will have to create my backup again tonight and tomorrow.

Thanks for your swift help as always @bjm and you also @SoulAsylum.

Yeah, I was not expecting Norton 360 Home to go wonky…just by deleting backup set online.

Norton 360 UI remains spinning…at this time.

=========================================

So, after waiting too long for spinner to stop spinning. I opted for machine restart.
After too long machine restart. Finally reached desktop and sorted My Backups.

Hello @MRNIGELGWILLIS
Now, I’m imagining. Next time…after deleting backup set online. I’ll wait 24 hours to see if next Sync cycle sorts my My Backups.

I’m curious, how long did you wait for your My Backups to reflect deleted backup set?

======================================

and Norton 360 Home - Sign In…receives more spinning

Norton 360 UI really did not like…my messing about with backup sets online.

===============================================

Now, my Norton 360 UI is frozen.

Task Manager → End task

Now…Norton 360 systray button is unresponsive…menu opens…but, menu items do nada.

================================

Edit: after two too long machine restarts…Norton sorted itself

Note to self: don’t do that again

Not knowing the best practices for this brand-new version, I logged out, performed the reset which insisted on restart which I accepted. As soon as it finished rebooting I checked the app and all the backups had been deleted in the client. On line they were still there so I just manually deleted all of them. I made a point of recreating my backup by adding each bit after running the backup. I did not add any delay for the sake of it just proceeded with due care.

Hello @MRNIGELGWILLIS
by my experience…and yours. Reset to Default clears backup sets within Norton v24 client. If you have enough remaining cloud storage space. You may retain backup sets online. When you create your Norton v24 preset backup w/wo added items. Your retained backup sets online will populate within Norton v24 client as Restore (only) backup sets.

by my recent experience. Trying to have (expecting) Norton v24 client (to) mirror backup sets online (after deleting one backup set online) was too much for my Norton v24 client…at that time.

So, either Reset to Default and then delete backup sets online. Or, delete backup sets online and then Reset to Default. If you want to start over.

Just deleting backup set online…by my last experience…seemed to overwhelm my Norton v24 client…at that time.

Thanks
