Delete online backups created with Norton 360

Hi,

I've almost run out of online storage (<47MB) and would like to delete some old backups.
I've tried Manage Backups Sets, Where (Online) but the the Delete Backup up Files option is greyed-out.

I also logged into the online backup webpage but it only allows me to restore and link to files not delete them.

How can I delete files from the online storage.

Thanks Simon

Windows XP SP3

Norton 360 v20.4.0.40

Are you logged into Windows with an account with Admin privileges?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I'm logged in with an administrator account.

Do you have any other ideas?

Simon

Sorry, I'll have to defer to other users that have experience with 360. I use NIS and only tested 360 some time ago.

Hang in. Someone should come with an answer for you.

Hi Simon,

In the Manage Backup Sets > Summary tab, in Backup set name do you have more than one backup set?

Also in the Summary tab, under Things you can do, click Delete backup set.

Please let us know if this helps in resolving your issue.

Thanks,

Kumar

Hi,

I've deleted the backup set, closed and re-opened Norton 360, then refreshed the drive usage but it hasn't freed up any space online.

Any other ideas?

Simon

Hi Simon,

Please try the following steps.

  1. Log in to https://nobu.backup.com/ with your Norton Account credentials.
  2.  In the next page, select the Try option to download and install a 30 days trial version of the Norton Online Backup.
  3.  After this is done, you should be able to select the desired data (backup set) and delete them using the File Actions > Purge option.

Please let us know if this resolves your issue.

Unfortunately it didn't help.

I logged into https://nobu.backup.com as you suggested. I wans't prompted to install anything. It appears to be web-based.

I can see the old and new computer.

When I click on the File Actions next to either computer (although I only want to delete the backups created with the old computer) the only options I see are Download a File and E-mail file links.

There are two buttons at the top of the screen labelled Add Computer and Remove Computer.

Is it safe for me to remove the old computer and will it also remove the old backups created with the old computer?

Simon

Hi Simon,

Please do not click on the Remove Computer button, as it might remove your valuable data. I suggest that you contact Norton Support, as they can help resolve your issue.

Do let us know when your issue gets resolved.

Hi Kumar,

The problem is now solved although I'm not sure how.

I was filling in the support contact form and thought I'd check to see how much free space was left.

Amazingly it reported 50GB out of 62GB.

I was also able to delete old backups using the Delete Backup up Files option (which had previously been greyed out).

Thank you all for taking the time to respond to my questions.

Simon

Hi Simon,

We are happy that your issue has been resolved.

Thanks for letting us know.

Hi Kumar,

In case it's helpful for anyone in the future, I think the solution was to trial an additional 25GB of online storage.
