I received Norton Security Suite for free from Constant Guard by Comcast. It is on my Dell Inspiron 15 that I got this Christmas. Frankly, Norton is a steaming pile of you know what. Half the time I try to perform a scan, Norton just sits there with the bar moving saying 'Scan in progress' but nothing actually gets scanned. I try to exit out of it, and it won't exit out, so it just slows down my computer. I have to restart and pray that it will work next time. The only reason I haven't gotten rid of this junk is because I like the thing that it comes with that saves your passwords (which doesn't always work as well). I was wondering 1) how do I delete Norton? And, 2) If I delete Norton, can I keep the password saver? That would be nice.

Thank you, I will try to reinstall NSS tonight. I will post my results afterwards. I do want to clarify though, NSS scans do work sometimes. When they work, they're fine, it's just that they don't work more often than they do.
It says deleting Norton Files, and it is stuck at 83%.

Hi,
I don't use NSS and I'm not all that familiar with it. There is a support forum at Comcast which might be a better place to get help. I do know that there are one or two of the programs offered by Comcast that cause problems.
Was this a control panel uninstall that failed?
Thanks
Yeah, it's on the control panel. It's not exactly stuck, the loading bar is still moving. It's just like when I try to perform a quick scan and the loading bar moves and says "Scan in progress", but it doesn't actually do anything. It might have to do with the fact that I never restarted my computer today after Norton got stuck again.
It seems to be working fine now, but it never quarantined my Identity Safe like it said it would lol........
EDIT: I tried doing an insight scan and it didn't do anything, so I tried exiting out and it wouldn't do that like it was doing before... I'll give Norton a second chance, I don't think I have a corrupted version this time.
hi,
Hang with us. It isn't all that bad and the programs do work. They just require a bit of TLC from time to time.
Our resident expert on all things Comcast is Guru YANK. He's active here and over there. I think he goes by another name [to protect the guilty, maybe ]
Keep us posted
First question I have is can you open NSS? Then can you log into your ID Safe vault? If you can, please go to the Export option and Export your ID Safe data so it is safely tucked away for future use and can be Imported in case you lose it while reinstalling NSS. This is included in the following instructions, but I wanted to make sure you did it first. If you can not do it and you lose your ID Safe data - we'll work on that after we get NSS running.
Please follow the instructions in this Norton FAQ from the Comcast Security Forum Board. If you can not remove it via control panel, skip that step and continue with the use of the Norton Removal Tool.
Once you complete the instructions, let us know how things went and if you have your ID Safe Vault back or not.
Also as dick stated there is a StandAlone version of ID Safe available - but it can not be used with any other Norton Product installed (NAV/NIS/N 360/NSS). Also of note is the fact it is a "Cloud based" vault in lieu of the Local Vault you have in NSS.
Please let us know how things go.
Too late-- I had already uninstalled & reinstalled NSS without getting my ID Safe passwords back...
I'm sorry if I missed it - what is your operating system?
