Denuvo - is it safe?

I am a big fan of the Sid Meier Civilization series.

The latest version (Civ 7) comes with Denuvo DRM (Digital Rights Management - used to prevent software piracy). A lot of people are saying they will not buy Civ 7 because Denuvo DRM is unsafe.

Does anyone in this community know that Denovu DRM is in fact nothing to worry about?

Så vit jeg ved er der ingen problemer med denuvo det er jo bare deres sikkerheds software til producktet ikke andet andre bruger jo også det software de skal jo bruge et eller andet software ellers kan du jo ikke købe spillet

Denuvo Anti-Tamper is a digital rights management (DRM) system that prevents software from being distributed without authorization. It’s used to protect a game’s early revenue.

How it works

  • Denuvo assigns a unique authentication ticket to each copy of a game
  • The ticket is based on factors like the hardware ID
  • Denuvo integrates with a game’s code

Benefits and drawbacks

  • Denuvo is designed to have a long crack-free release window

  • However, some tests have shown that games with DRM protection have lower frame rates

  • Denuvo’s anti-cheat system uses machine learning to detect cheating

History

  • Denuvo Software Solutions GmbH, an Austrian company, developed Denuvo Anti-Tamper

  • The company was formed after a management buyout of DigitalWorks

  • Denuvo Anti-Tamper was introduced with FIFA 15 in September 2014

  • Irdeto acquired Denuvo Software Solutions in January 2018

Because it uses AI antiviral software MAY nail it as suspicious. Epic games uses similar software, my gaming rig hasn’t had any issues with Norton thus far with it. Your scenario my be different.
