After getting the second part of the patch (21.2.0.38) my desktop shortcut no longer worked. Obviously because the old version was deleted and the old uiStub was deleted. But why didn't the patch create a new desktop shortcut? Instead I had to manually add one myself. It's not difficult for me but other customers might not find it as easy.
Deleted and Desktop shortcut not replaced:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Internet Security\Engine64\21.1.1.7\uiStub.exe
New uiStub location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Internet Security\Engine64\21.2.0.38\uiStub.exe
So I had to go to 21.2.0.38\uiStub.exe and right click and send to desktop (create shortcut).
You can also right click on the "non-working" exsisting desktop shortcut Icon, select properties, change the engine number from 21.1.1.7 (or 21.1.0.18) to 21.2.0.38 and that will fix it also.
Hi, SGFC. I had the same problem when the v21.2 update came through. I just deleted the desktop icon, since I have an icon in the tray I can launch from, and also I can pin the program to the Taskbar, if necessary.
