Desktop shortcut

Not a big issue, but I would like to know why Norton indiscriminately decides to plant their shortcut on my desktop. They put it there and I delete it, a week or two later its back on my desktop. I don’t need or want the shortcut on my desktop. Other than not buying Norton again, how do I stop this

Hello user2453. There isn’t a way to stop the Norton desktop icon from reappearing within Norton settings. Each time Norton updates itself where there are changes, Norton will stop all the running services and force the desktop to repopulate. I have watched this take place several times.

There MAY be a way to force Windows settings to handle it, I assume you are on Windows 10 or 11. Give the suggestion in this Microsoft forums a shot. They state that synching can cause this so change “file synching” settings in Windows.
