Ok using NIS 2014 on vista basic laptop
Ok my laptop was already on but when I woke it from sleep I received a message saying something about an item found
adware. webwise
It was a Norton window in the middle of the screen
It was set default to fix so I clicked apply. It was noted that the item adware .webwise was removed
I looked in my Norton history and I show this process under resolved items
I also looked at scan history and see that after virus def updates an automatic scan ran and had detected this but did not resolve it
Guess that’s why the notification window popped up for me to initiate action
When I look at the item in question ( adware. webwise) it does not show where it came from or where it was located. It does indicate it as some sort of tracking cookie
When I google adware . webwise I see older forum posts saying that Norton would not put a pop up screen in the middle of the screen and that it might be an infection
But it is logged into the history and does seem to be a legit notification
My question is what is adware webwise and how did it get past my Norton protection?
