Detection of Spyware / Remote Monitors

I received a message letting me know that my subscription just expired and that I should get the new 2010.

Please tell me if this version (for the consumer) will detect spyware / monitoring activity?  I once had a problem with Web Watcher (Ultraview) which had been installed by my stalker ex-husband on my home computer.  Norton did not detect it, but you all helped me download software that did find it so that I could remove it.  I want to be sure that this version of your software will not ignore spyware / stalking activity - or will at least provide the option to tighten up the security parameters to detect monitoring if it does not look for this software by default.

Thanks for such a quick and helpful response! :)  (fyi - my last post about this:  http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=Norton_360&message.id=6489&query.id=446358#M6489  )

During the last discussion, I learned that the business version would identify the monitoring program, but the consumer version would ignore it because it had been installed on the computer.  I was hoping that there would be some flexibility in the new version to allow blocking of keystroke logging, etc.  I don't think the firewall always allowed you to see programs sending data.  Is that new?

I guess I should also mention that I currently have Norton 360.

Hi Knowpeace:

I'm not sure how customizable the settings are in N360.  I am not familiar with it as I run NIS2009.  If the firewall is the same, it would be a matter of turning off automatic program control and turning on Advance events monitoring.  We should perhaps get you moved over to the N360 board for more info.
