Looks like I've picked up a "Dialer" spyware program, since last weeks full system scan. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware was the only program that picked it up. Norton's NIS 2009 full system didn't report anything and neither did SuperAntiSpyware (I'm not sure about the HiJackThis scan results). When the Malwarebytes' scan (off line in safe mode) was finished, the file was put in quarantine and deleted. I ran another scan and the Dialer showed up in the "Recycle Bin" and in the Malwarebytes' Quarantine. I deleted both of them and another scan showed the PC was clean. The Dialer was originally found in a factory installed folder, that I don't need or use, so I deleted the whole folder also.
This morning when I stayed off line and ran another scan in safe mode, the Dialer was only found in C:\System Volume information\_restore{...........}......exe. How do I get it out of the restore folder? Sunday I also did my weekly Ghost backup to an external drive, can I assume it is infected also and how can I clean a backed up file (delete all of the external backups and start fresh? No real problem doing this, just time consuming.)?
