Did I just get scammed?

I recently bought a new Macbook Pro laptop.  Went online to Norton to sign it up.  But when I put my key in I got an error message and someone responded on chat.  Then phone rang and a guy named James Cavabaugh at 1-833-674-0362 from "geek online" said he was with Norton.  He went into my computer and supposedly put Norton on.  Looks like it is now on.  He also said that I was paying $500+ each year and that if I paid $400 I could sign up for Lifetime Norton.  Is this legal?  Or have I been scammed.  Fortunately I have not been able to download documents from icloud yet.  Wanted to get Norton first.  The only info on my Macbook is photos.  But now he has my key -- he gave that to me and he knew how much I was paying to Norton.  Does he now have my passwords?  Help.  [Removed]

Sounds like you did not reach Norton Official Support page/s.
