Hello, what is the difference between the following offline installer versions: N360 vs N360P vs DSPN360?
source Google:
N360P-ESD-22.24.8.36-EN.exe is an installer for Norton 360 Premium. It is a legitimate, official Norton download.
N360P: Refers to Norton 360 Premium, a comprehensive antivirus and security suite from Norton LifeLock.
ESD: Stands for “Electronic Software Delivery,” which indicates it is a digital download rather than a physical installation from a disc.
22.24.8.36: Represents the version number of the software.
EN: Specifies the language of the installer, in this case, English.
.exe: The standard file extension for an executable program on Microsoft Windows.
===========================================
Based on the filename structure DSP-N360-ESD-22.24.8.36-EN.exe, DSP stands for “Direct Service Platform” and indicates a downloadable installer file for a Norton 360 security product.
Here is a breakdown of the file name:
DSP: Direct Service Platform, which refers to the automated, direct delivery of the software to the customer.
N360: Norton 360, the name of the security software product.
ESD: Electronic Software Delivery, a method of distributing software digitally instead of through physical media.
22.24.8.36: The version number of the software.
EN: English, the language of the installer.
.exe: The file extension for a Windows executable file

Thank you for your explaination. Now I understand the difference between N360 and N360P but I still don’t understand what is the difference between N360 and DSP-N360.What does DSP (Direct Service Platform) mean and when DSP-N360 installer should be used instead of N360 installer? I can see that the norton.com/cspn360 link downloads the DSP-N360 installer.
Sorry, I don’t know the backend minutia N360 vs DSP-N360
fwiw ~ my understanding = N360 vs DSP-N360 is a different backend source for the download
We’ve seen N360 & DSP-N360 published on Community pages
You’re aware v22 is not current
Yes I’m aware but I don’t have any other choice because I need an offline installer and 22.24.8.36 is the most recent full offline installer version available.
If you have a more recent offline installer (V25?) please post it, I can’t find it anywhere, thanks.
Hello @darxis
Oh okay…v22.24 should (hopefully) update to v25.8
pulling a current installer from your Norton account feels easier…just saying
I’ve not touched v22 long time.
No, I’ve not looked.

AI Overview
While older versions of Norton 360 had a readily available offline installer, versions 24/25 primarily use a web-based, smaller installer downloaded directly from the user’s online account . This approach ensures the most up-to-date program files are used during installation.
Offline installation options
Despite the move to online installers, a workaround exists that provides a similar result to an offline installation:
- Download the installer from your account: You can download a “set-up” file from the “My Subscriptions” page of your
my.Norton.comaccount. This file contains the main program files and can be saved to any location, such as a USB drive. - Copy and run the file offline: Once you have the setup file, you can copy it to other computers and run it without an active internet connection. You may still need to go online for final product activation.
- Activation requires a connection: Note that while the core installation can be done offline, an internet connection is still required to activate the product and run the initial LiveUpdate.
Key differences between old and new installers
The current installation process differs from the legacy method in these ways:
- Legacy offline installer (older versions): A single, large installation file was downloaded and ran entirely offline, with activation occurring later.
- Modern web-based installer (v24/25): A smaller, initial installer is downloaded from your account and then fetches the most current program files and updates from Norton’s servers during the setup process.

Hello @darxis
as per Norton Chat support:
Norton 360 versions 24 and 25 do not offer a full offline installer. Installation requires an active internet connection, as the setup file downloads necessary components during the process.
Hello @darxis
Care to share your progress
Hey @bjm No other progress than what’s here. I guess only Norton devs know the answer to what is the difference between DSPN360 and N360 installer files.
Yeah, I was wondering what you installed…what you’re running?
Thanks
I chose to install DSP-N360-ESD-22.24.8.36-EN.exe because the link that appears here on the forums (https://www.norton.com/cspn360) downloads the DSP-N360 version.
