Hi, I was just cleaning up some programs when I noticed that the NIS icon looks different from what it usually is. I have never seen an icon like that associated with Norton anywhere on their website. Does anyone know what it means. I'm quite confused. If anyone has a similiar problem please share. I have attached a screenshot of the window for your reference.
It will take a short while for the image to be approved by the Mods. In the meantime, does it look like a couple of "eyebrows" or a "pagoda?" Or does it look like an open box?
I've got the installer "open box in both my machines, 2010 and 2011. It does kind of look like a shield because it is so small. But I think a box is what it is. I wonder why Symantec didn't just leave it as something recognizable??
It does look like the installer icon, which seems like an odd choice for the program listing in Add/Remove programs - unless they were thinking in terms of it meaning to represent the Uninstaller. Still an odd choice, but I guess the eyebrows and pagoda were already taken.
Your screen shot has been approved. It looks exactly like mine. Not to worry. It's a box turned on an angle, with the lid open. Heaven only knows why that would be used.
Isn't that the same shield icon that comes up for Norton Internet Security (Ver 18.1.0.37) and Norton PC Checkup (ver 2.0.6.10)? In XP, if I go start / all programs / Norton Internet Security or Norton PC Checkup, that shield shows up with the uninstall icon.
It looks like my Norton Antivirus part of my System works also. You know, I never noticed it looking like that before. The system works part has the icon showing that I would have expected for the antivirus part also especially since it's part of the system works.
I'd put in a bigger picture of it, but it would take a while to get an image approved again. Perhaps one of our fine gurus can produce a good-sized image.
I've still got the 2011 instaler package on my desktop. It is the same icon, just a bit larger. Brown box, little globe inside it, two flaps open on top.
