Digital Cameras Aren't Recognized via USB after 360 v3 Install

I have a Dell XPS 420 that came preinstalled w/ NIS 2007 - it is running Vista Home Premium.  My subscription was up so I upgraded to Norton 360 v3 yesteray.  Uninstall and install went fine.  However this morning when I went to attach my Nikon D60 camera via USB to offload pictures, the D60 didn't appear in My Computer as a drive like it usually does.  I thought maybe it was the USB port so I tried multiple ports on the PC including those attached to a hub as well as a few directly on the PC.  Also tried a different cable and still no dice.  Note that I hear the little windows beeps when I connect the digital camera via USB but no other response.  If I take the memory card from the camera and attach it to a memory card reader via the same USB cable and the same USB port, the various drives from the memory card reader show up - so I am positive it isn't the cable or the port.  To make sure it isn't my digital camera, I hooked up my other digital camera, a Canon SD450 and same problem - no icon in My Computer.  Since I just installed Norton yesterday I have to imagine that for some reason the software is prohibiting the cameras from showing up as drives.  Not sure why the memory card reader would work though.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  There are a ton of options on 360 and I dont' really want to mess around w/ them if I don't know what they do.  I haven't touched any of the options from their default settings.  I ran an anti-virus and spyware scan but haven't done any of the other (PC tuneup, backup, etc) scans.

Thanks in advance.

Well I think I may have figured it out and it has nothing to do w/ N360.  My XPS Miniview - the stupid little LCD screen on the outside of the PC that is tied to Windows Slideshow wasn't working properly.  In Device Manager it had an exclamation point next to it - actually discovered this by running the Norton Diagnostics.  Anyway I managed to eventually get that working and once I did, plugging both of my digital cameras in to the USB port seems to work as it previously did.  I think the XPS Miniview is somehow patched into the USB architecture of the PC b/c it shows up in the Disconnect USB Devices popup from the tray.

Anyway everything seems to be working fine.  Have to say I like 360 so far.  At first I was kind of skeptical about the browser toolbar but it seems to work well and gives you that extra level of security.

Glad you got that worked out.  Yes the XPS Miniview and similar devices are tied directly into the USB BUS controller and are therefore a USB device.  But because of the hardwired connection and directly into the BUS they can interfere with USB functions due to blocking the BUS's normal voltage flow to the other ports.

If you have any more issues with N360 don't hesitate to come back and ask.  A multitude of different users and systems here means a good chance the answer is already here in somebody's experience.

Have a good week!
