I recently had a problem when I installed a Microsoft update, and the HP guy told me that I should have closed my Norton Internet Security befor downloading and installing the update. I have searched NIS and do not see where I disable and the re-enable when the update is complete. PLEASE HELP!!

Hi Chappy08,
I dont know what did you mean by telling 'upgradation'. But what dave said is the right way. Completely turning of means, it involves process and service as well as task scheduler.
Are you sure to do that?
Thanks a lot for the response. I have donit that before placing my question , I just wanted to know if I can completely disable it but thingy upgrade I'm going to unistall it completely.
thanks so much, have a great day.

Hi Comminity,
I need to disable temporaly NIS V.20.5.0.28. I need the NIS to be completely turn-off eventhough at startup, the application must not run for a temporaly time in my Windows XP while I'm doing some upgrades.
Is there a knowledgeable person who can do me the favor to guide me to stop/disable and later on to restart it. I'll appreciate it very much if someone spare some time.
Thanks,
Alex
