Disable Windows Defender Periodic Scanning

Hi,

The Norton Product/Service I have given above is probably wrong. I couldn't find anything relevant. Norton put up an instruction to turn off Windows Defender Periodic Scanning, with a learn more button. So, I now have detailed instructions for how to find the correct setting in one or more versions of Windows. Unfortunately, they are not for the version that I have: Windows 11 Home 23H2. Does anyone know where the correct or relevant version might be. The path to the switch that I want breaks down about 2 steps before the end. Why couldn't they get the back end right and the front end wrong. I'm sure it would be easier to guess that way round (general vs specific). So far, the search in Windows settings has not helped at all.

I expect that the documentation I would need to follow this instruction has not been written, but I would appreciate any ideas, suggestions, or even better knowledge. Thanks a lot.

Cheers,

C. J.

This was the point that I was missing. The Virus & Threat Protection pages are re-modelled, but the Microsoft Defender options are still there, if you know where to look.

Ahh...okay.
W11 - 23H2 Virus & Threat Protection pages are re-modelled from W11 - 22H2 Virus & Threat Protection pages.

Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for taking some time to look at this. This was the point that I was missing. The Virus & Threat Protection pages are re-modelled, but the Microsoft Defender options are still there, if you know where to look. Thanks a lot. I think this is a solution.

If there were previous posts on this topic, as referenced above, I didn't find them. Perhaps, I just didn't put the right phrase in the search.

Cheers,

If another antivirus product is installed and working correctly, Microsoft Defender Antivirus disables itself. In this case, the Windows Security app changes the Virus & threat protection section to show status about the antivirus product, and provides a link to the product's configuration options.

Underneath the name of a non-Microsoft antivirus product, a link appears as Microsoft Defender Antivirus options. Select this link to show the toggle that enables limited periodic scanning. Note that the limited periodic option is a toggle to enable or disable periodic scanning. Sliding the switch to On shows the standard Microsoft Defender Antivirus options underneath the non-Microsoft antivirus product. The limited periodic scanning option will appear at the bottom of the page.
