Try going to settings>antivirus settings>email scan>configure. There may be a way to disable email scanning in those settings.
1 Start Norton 360.
2 Click Settings.
3 Click Antivirus.
4 On the Scans and Risks tab, next to Email Antivirus Scan, click Configure.
5 Uncheck Scan outgoing email messages.
6 Click Apply.
7 In the Security Request window, from the drop-down menu, select Permanently and then click OK.
8 In the Email Antivirus Scan window, click OK.
9 In the Settings window, click Close.
Very helpful, Cyberlife! Since I have NIS, I am forced to guess on N360 issues.
@ Cyberlife,
That produces an Orange Fix Now Button on the splash page, is there anyway to enable "ignore" for that setting as there is in NIS 2011? In NIS you can turn the email scanning off and then click Ignore and it will not report the setting being turned off via a Fix Now button.
I can not find a way to Ignore with Comcast Norton Security Suite which is based on 360 and was just curious if the commercial version has that function.
Let me try:
1. Open Norton 360.
2. Click Settings.
3. Click Administrative Settings.
4. In the Administrative Settings window, under Product Security, next to Product State Monitoring, click Configure.
5. In the Product State Monitoring window, under Antivirus, uncheck Incoming Email scanning & Outgoing Email Scanning.
6. Click Apply, and Ok.
That will get rid of the Orange button.

Yank -- The Comcast version is not the same as N360 and is often not as uptodate. That Ignore feature is recent I think -- certainly the permanent ignoring of warnings is.
Comcast is using version 5 now and the 2 posts by Cyberlife should work fine to not only turn off the email scanning but disable the "fix now" warning.

TYVM Cyberlife, I had heard that had been changed in N360, but didn't really go looking for it when we updated Norton Security Suite to Version 5 @ Comcast..
That info will be very helpful in answering questions over on the Comcast Forums.
