Disc Optimization- how long should it take? I'm going on 24 hours!

Hi, I've been running a disc optimization using Norton's 360 and it's been 24 hours. How long does this normally take? If I cancel it, will it do any harm to my laptop?

You should cancel it as it has obviously got some sort of issue.
