I've been using Norton360 v3.0 for about a month and now there is an attention popup asks me to do a disk optimization. However, everytime when I click on the "Fix Now" button it just jumps to the "Scan Request Complete" screen, which skipped the whole process of the optimization. Would anyone know what possibly could go wrong and how I can fix it?
Try running the Disk Optimization manually by going into PC Tuneup Details and running a Run Disk Optimization (click on the this in the bottom of the screen).
Before Norton 360 defragments a drive, it analyzes the fragmentation level of the drive. If the fragmentation level of the drive is 10 percent or less, then Norton 360 Disk Optimization does not defragment the drive(skips the defragmentation) and reports as scan as completed. But I am not sure whether this is your case. So, better try running Disk Defragmentor from Windows and check whether it is doing any optimization/fragmentation.
1. Open My Computer. 2. Right-click the local disk volume that you want to defragment, and then click Properties. 3. On the Tools tab, click Defragment Now. 4. Click Defragment.
Have you tried to run a One Click Support session yet? It is available from the Help&Support menu on the main screen. This will check and repair / fix internal settings to the N360 program. Report any error codes it finds and can not repair back here. Thanks.
This problem can happen if you have started the Windows Disk Defragmenter manually, or scheduled the Windows Disk Defragmenter to run at the time Norton 360 is scheduled to run the Disk Optimization. If the Windows Disk Defragmenter is already running when Norton 360 initiates the Disk Optimization, it reports that the Disk Optimization is complete without running the defragmenter. You cannot run two instances of defragmenter on your computer at a time.
Can you check the status under details or under history?
I´m having exactly the same problem. I have a warning message in my Norton 360, saying I have to defragment disks. When I press the button to solve the problem it does nothing, I get to an empty page, and then it´s the same again. It´s seems it´s a bug in the program. Do you have a solution?
Norton´s tray icon is red, it says Norton has to optimize disks, but when you press "Repair everything" you get to a blank window, and the warning state remains the same.
If you disable the disk optimization automatic task in the configuration menu, then Norton turns "green" again. But if you enable disk optimization again, it turns red again, and you force to optimize but it does nothing, and remains red.
That´s the situation, so now until a solution is found, I´ll stay with disk optimization off.
